About
Dallas Swing Dance Society (DSDS) is dedicated to preserving swing dance culture in Dallas by offering weekly dances and lessons. Held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Saturday of every month, DSDS offers a welcoming, safe space to socialize and dance to jazz music. Popular dances include 6 Count Swing, Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Charleston, and Balboa. Swing dancing originally began in Harlem, New York at the integrated Savoy Ballroom in the 1930s. With Afro-American roots, Lindy Hop and the other swing dances took America by storm; being found throughout society and featured in movies till the end of the 1950s.
