I believe that every child/adult can be trained into a professional Bharathanatyam dancer depending on their potential, dedicated time and effort, and their passion for the art form. I am a Bharathanatyam dancer/teacher trained in the art form for over 25 years with a number of on-stage performances in India and in the US. In my class, a beginner (adult/kid) would learn basic footsteps (adavus) and hand gestures (hastas). In advanced session, one would learn to perform entire Margam that includes Pushpanjali, Alarippu, Jathiswaram, Padam, Varnam, Keerthanai, and Thillana. I shall use Nattuvangam (cymbals) or Thattu-kazhi to conduct classes.
