Ms. Gillian N. Johnson-Poor has trained dancers for over 30 years in Classical Ballet, Broadway Jazz and Tap. Ms. Johnson founded Southeastern Virginia Dance Theatre in 1994. Artistic Director until 2022. In 2023 Gillian opened Gillian Johnson Dance Academy so dancers could train privately, furthering their dance education in the performing arts. Ms. Johnson's graduates now teach for Broadway Steps in New York City, dance for Oscars, Grammy’s, Emmy’s, Beyonce, Lamar, Katie Perry, and Madonna. Her principal graduates dance with The Joffrey Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet Co., The National Ballet & Kirov.
